Solid chestnut chest with internal compartment, second half 19th century, Tuscany
Object: Rustic chest
Period: Second half 19th century
Style: Traditional rustic
Provenance: Tuscany, northern Italy
Traditional Tuscan chest in solid chestnut. Of simple but solid and compact invoice created for a daily use and an unlimited duration in time. It presents numerous signs of time and use spent. Its shape and sober style make it adaptable to any environment and use. Completely devoid of worms and completely revised even in the structure that has found its stability. Locks and hardware in style.
On the furniture has been opted for a complete restoration of the structure. All the elements are the original ones except on one side where a chestnut table has been replaced with a coeval. We proceeded with a conservative restoration without wanting to hide the signs of time and use. The iron elements that had worn out with others in style were replaced. Even the lock has been added because it is missing and the chest is now fully functional. Anti-woodworm treatment to remove the xilophagous insects present. Stuccoing in wax, varnished shellac lacquer and wax finish. Good quality mobile.
